I'm never able to watch Belleville (already a crime watching all the Sens games from the other side of the pond), so thanks for the extensive update on the youngsters. Really excited to hear that Abramov and Brannstrom have looked decent so far.

If you have Facebook, look for an account called melnykout streams. All Belleville games are streamed. It’s fantastic.

It would be awesome to see Brown and Batherson take the next step; they need to get stronger to be in the NHL as they look overwhelmed at times. That's pretty much the only thing holding them back. Interested to see if both Brannstrom/Abramov could be ready as soon as next season as well

I wish they had sent Tkachuk down on deadline day to make him eligible for the AHL playoffs.

Not sure if was planned. The Sens will absorb a minimum of 5 rookies next season. And, in 2020 they have a boatload of drafts in bumper year.

The rebuild is progressing okay in the beginning stages.

sending Tkachuk down would have been a horrible mistake and a HUGE slap in the face to him. the salary he'd lose would be huge, on a 2-way deal I think his AHL salary is like 25% of his NHL salary. I get that it would be good for Belleville, but you're taking money out of peoples pocket, and also telling people that your AHL team is more important than your NHL team.

if you ask the players, I guarantee you every one of them would prefer playing in Ottawa than Belleville, regardless of the tire fire going on.

it's one thing to leave people in Belleville who've been there most of the year anyways....it's an ENTIRELY different thing to send someone down who's been with the big club since day one.

I thought (perhaps mistakenly) he could be sent down and placed on the Belleville roster for 24 hours and brought back up. He would not need to miss a Sens game or any salary.

understood, but pretty sure AHL playoffs occur during the NHL regular season....I might be wrong....meaning he would miss NHL games to play in the AHL, thus taking a huge chunk of $$ out of his pocket.

I'm advocating for him to be the backup. He's 25 in November

Hes had half a good season since coming to NA. He was doing well overseas though. If he can finish strong id give him a few games early next year. Up to him after that.

Not sure he is going to be an everyday NHL goalie. He’s had a nice run the last couple of months, but the rest of his development has been all over the map and he is coming on 25. Maybe he is a late bloomer, but I would start to add to the goalie prospect cupboard. Have a few options/competition – not a bad thing.

I'm in the camp that thinks Gus is the future #1 of this club.

I went to the last home game against Carolina where Gus was the back up. Literally he didn't let a goal in, during the warm up. It was actually kind of crazy to watch, by the end of the warm up, they were trying and nothing was going in.

Gus has a lot of potential, but I think he's still a bit of question mark, and at least a few years away.

I'm excited, for real, seeing him in warm up was crazy. I've never seen a goalie put in that much effort when he wasn't even playing.
